People Operations Specialist

  • Remote
    • London, Greater London, United Kingdom
  • £40,000 - £55,000 per year

Job description

Take end-to-end ownership of people operations in a modern, fast-growing, fully remote law firm.

We're looking for someone who can run day-to-day people operations and build them into scalable systems as we grow. You'll be a trusted support for our managers and handle sensitive one-to-one conversations with care, helping Juno stay one of the best places to work in the UK.

Juno is a law firm for the AI age. We’re on a mission to transform the experience of buying and selling a home, by making conveyancing simpler, clearer and faster for everyone.

Moving home is one of life’s biggest moments, and the legal work behind it is incredibly slow, opaque and stressful for the people that need it. With our own in-house technology and world-class team, we're out to change this and become the most trusted consumer law firm in the UK.

Juno makes conveyancing simpler, clearer and faster

  • Juno is a CLC regulated law firm specialising in residential conveyancing and operating throughout England and Wales.

  • We complete thousands of sale, purchase and remortgage transactions each year, and we’re trusted by 80+ mortgage lenders.

  • We’re rated as one of the best conveyancing firms in the UK by our clients (4.9/5 on Trustpilot from 2,500+ reviews) and our employees love us too (4.6/5 on Glassdoor).

  • We’ve built our own software in-house. Clients can do all their conveyancing online, and always know what’s going on. And we’ve optimised the process to complete transactions 50% faster than the average law firm.

About the role

We're a fast growing company and you’ll be the first dedicated hire into the people team. In this role you'll own our core people processes outright, and make them scalable by turning repetitive work into smooth, repeatable systems so the experience stays consistent for our team and the effort stays low for you. This is a fully remote role.

  • You’ll own new-starter onboarding flows end to end - issuing contracts, running pre-employment checks and making sure our onboarding task checklists enable a great onboarding experience.

  • You’ll be the first point of contact for managers, resolving what you can and escalating clearly, with a recommendation, when you need guidance.

  • You’ll handle absence and leave administration.

  • You’ll run sensitive one-to-one conversations with employees confidently and with empathy, knowing what to handle yourself and when to bring others in.

  • You’ll own our HR system (Zelt) - configuring workflows and keeping our onboarding and offboarding flows in good shape.

  • You’ll draft and track routine employee paperwork, such as changes to salary, hours or role.

  • You'll build the templates, workflows and prompts (using AI tools, including Claude) that make all this repeatable rather than reactive.

  • As you get up to speed, you’ll identify things to automate, support managers through light-touch training, and turn the data we already have into useful insights for leadership.

You will work closely with our General Counsel, who will also be your line manager.

About you

  • You take ownership of problems from start to finish and see them through proactively.

  • You can run sensitive conversations with empathy, and give honest, direct feedback that people can act on.

  • You exercise sound judgement on sensitive and confidential issues - you know what to handle directly and what to escalate, and you have a good nose for risk.

  • You add process only when the volume justifies it - simple at small scale, systemised as things grow, rather than importing a traditional HR playbook wholesale.

  • You have hands-on experience using Claude, ChatGPT or similar AI tools to build and improve operational processes, turning repetitive manual work into reliable, auditable and repeatable semi-automated or automated workflows.

  • Ideally you have a basic understanding of employment law, experience in a people team, or have recently worked in a high-growth environment, but none of these are essential. We care far more about judgement, ownership and instincts than years on a CV.

This is a hands-on operational role, not a management one. It’ll suit someone who enjoys the day-to-day and wants to shape how a people function is built from the ground up. As Juno grows, there's real scope for this role - and the person in it - to grow with it.

Salary and benefits

  • £40,000–£55,000 full-time equivalent, depending on experience

  • Employer pension contribution scheme

  • Comprehensive private healthcare with Vitality

  • Mental health support with Spill

  • Growth Shares after your probation period, so you share in Juno’s long-term success

  • Fully paid-for annual company weekend to connect with your colleagues

Flexible working

This role can be full-time or part-time, with a minimum of 32 hours a week spread over four or five days. More than 60% of people at Juno have flexible working hours, and 30% work part-time. At Juno, we believe in a healthy work–life balance. Our flexible working patterns help make room for life’s commitments whilst keeping the team running smoothly.

Each person’s needs are unique, and we aim to build teams with a mixture of working patterns which work for everyone.
